Decide which channel should receive the alerts

Choose the chat channel your team already watches — for example a Slack channel named #qa-alerts, or a channel in Microsoft Teams. PixellPeep will post its messages there.

If you use Slack: create an "incoming webhook" and copy its link

A webhook link is just a private address that lets PixellPeep post into your channel. Follow these clicks exactly:

1. 1.Open the link above and sign in to your Slack workspace if asked.
2. 2.Click the green "Create New App" button, then choose "From scratch".
3. 3.Type a name such as "PixellPeep Alerts", pick your workspace from the dropdown, and click "Create App".
4. 4.In the left-hand menu, under "Features", click "Incoming Webhooks".
5. 5.Turn the "Activate Incoming Webhooks" switch to On (top-right of that page).
6. 6.Scroll to the bottom and click "Add New Webhook to Workspace".
7. 7.Choose the channel where alerts should appear, then click "Allow".
8. 8.You are returned to the previous page — under "Webhook URLs for Your Workspace", click "Copy" next to the new address (it begins with https://hooks.slack.com/services/...).

If you use Microsoft Teams: create an incoming webhook and copy its link

Do this instead of the Slack step if your team uses Teams:

1. 1.In Teams, hover over the channel name and click the "…" (more options) button next to it.
2. 2.Choose "Connectors" (in newer Teams this is under "Manage channel" → "Edit" → "Connectors").
3. 3.Find "Incoming Webhook" in the list and click "Configure" (or "Add", then "Configure").
4. 4.Give it a name like "PixellPeep Alerts", optionally upload an image, then click "Create".
5. 5.A web address appears — click the copy icon next to it. Keep this for the next step.

Add the channel here in PixellPeep

Come back to the Notifications settings page, choose Slack or Teams, type a short name you will recognise later (for example "QA team alerts"), paste the link you copied, and click "Add channel". Alerts for visual differences switch on automatically.

Make PixellPeep find a difference on purpose

Open the Compare page, upload two pictures that clearly look different from each other, click Compare, and wait for it to finish. Because the images differ, PixellPeep records a "difference found".

Look in your chat channel

Open the Slack or Teams channel you set up. Within a few seconds a message from PixellPeep should appear. If nothing shows up, return here and check that the link was pasted correctly and the channel is still listed.

Tidy up afterwards

If you only added the channel to test it, click "Remove" next to it on the settings page. You can always add it back later.
